Time tracking

Monday's logged time becomes Friday's invoice

Starthop tracks billable and non-billable hours per client and project, and keeps a running total of what has not been invoiced yet. When it is time to bill, the hours become invoice lines without retyping anything.

Hours per client and project

Every entry belongs to a project and a client, with a description of the work, so invoices and reports explain themselves.

Billable or not, decided once

Mark work as billable or internal. Only billable, unbilled hours are offered for invoicing, and billed hours are locked to their invoice.

Rates that follow the person

Daily and hourly rates per team member and project mean the invoice shows the right amount without a spreadsheet in between.

See what is still to bill

An unbilled overview per client shows exactly how much work is waiting to be invoiced.

From hour to invoice

  1. 1

    Log time

Team members log hours on the project they worked on, from the web or their phone.

  2. 2

    Review

Unbilled hours per client are collected and ready to check.

  3. 3

    Invoice

Generate the invoice; the hours become its lines and are marked as billed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I track time that is not billable?

Yes. Internal work can be logged as non-billable, so reports show where time goes without it ever appearing on an invoice.

How do logged hours become an invoice?

Starthop collects the billable hours not yet invoiced for a client, and creates the invoice lines from them. The hours are then linked to that invoice so they cannot be billed twice.

Can team members track time on their phone?

Yes. Starthop works in any browser and can be installed on a phone's home screen.
